The Leader of the Muslim Brotherhood, party of the former Egyptian President, Mohammed Morsi has been given a life imprisonment sentence. Mohammed Badie was sentenced for inciting street in Cairo last year after the overthrow of Mohammed Morsi.
An Egyptian new station reported that the presiding judge, Hassan Farid, said the 70- year- old incited violence "to achieve terrorist goals" following the removal of the Brotherhood ' s Mohamed Morsi from the presidency in July 2013.
The funny thing here is that, Badie has already been given a death sentence on two different trials where he was tried in absentia.
Egypt has since designated the Muslim Brotherhood a 'terrorist organization' and has launched a massive crackdown on the group.
In a shocking case that drew international attention, Egypt sentenced 529 Brotherhood members to death.
The former President also has since been in Jail and is undergoing trial for killing of prostesters.
Egypt has also accused and convicted three Aljazeera journalists for being involved with the 'terrorist group.' An act that has been widely condemned and viewed as an attack on journalism.
This only shows how badly the Egyptian Government want to get rid of the Brotherhood, and if you ask me, I'll say that they have other motives behind the extensive crackdown than they are revealing. Or how can a political party of a former President suddenly be designated as a terrorist group?
